What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is a common structural element in buildings. It is a large flat, horizontal concrete surface typically used for the floor or roof. Concrete slabs are employed to construct the flooring in some homes. They can be laid directly on the soil or used as a support for the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slab installation is challenging if you don’t have the necessary knowledge and experience. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors follows a strict concrete slab construction procedure that is strictly adhered to local codes and industry standards.

Safety is the first priority for us in all of our concrete projects. Before we begin any work, we make sure that we're equipped with safety equipment. Eye protection and long sleeves, or long pants, rubber boots or gloves are essential. These all protect us from concrete splashes that could affect our overall health and well-being.

Follow the steps below as part of the process:

Step 1: Onsite Preparation

We use the same procedure, whether it's a small concrete slab project or a more extensive one. The first step is to prepare the area for any tasks we carry out. We clear up and dispose of all garbage so that it is possible for us to start over. We ensure that all items are in good condition for use during the preparation phase. We plan the delivery of the materials prior to the time we begin the actual work. This allows us to begin and finish the project in time.

Step 2: Build Concrete Forms and Reinforce Concrete Slabs using Stahl

After the site has been cleaned, we will construct concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms are strong barriers that hold concrete mix in the right place. Concrete forms also make concrete mix assume a certain shape or design. In the case of larger structures, we use the rebar method to reinforce concrete. This makes concrete surfaces stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We employ a concrete truck to facilitate the process. It ensures that the concrete materials are properly mixed. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. But, the majority of concrete mixers are needed for projects.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing concrete, we immediately place a concrete slab on the molds. To avoid air pockets, we carefully apply the concrete mix. The presence of air pockets is due to lack of mortar to fill the spaces surrounding the aggregate. Concrete is made by ensuring that it is evenly distributed throughout the form.
